Once a year the Classic Car Club of Hong Kong takes over a whole road in Central Hong Kong. It’s quite the spectacle to experience the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong virtually come to a halt, as this epicenter of business, technology and networking stops to admire automotive history.

Having previously lived in Hong Kong for just short of four years, I too used to be a member of the CCCHK, just as I’ve taken part in their impressive Chater Road Show – my first year just as a spectator and thereafter with a classic of my own. This year’s show was held on the last Sunday of November, and was their biggest to date with 127 attending classic cars. There’s great diversity on display with every era and every country represented, right from a pre-war Ford A to a late eighties Nissan Skyline GT-R in the contemporary class, and right from a small Mini to a grand series 1 Maserati Quattroporte.

Many prizes are given away on the day in a wide variety of classes, with Best Overall Car in Show going to the ’88 Mercedes- Benz 190E owned by Ricky Lai Kin Ming. The Public Votes are always interesting as well, and this year there was two of them – one for the Most Desirable Car and another for the Best Presented Car, going respectively to the ’86 Porsche 930 Turbo Flatnose of Arthur Lai and the ’79 Pontiac Firebird Trans-am of Oliver Temple.

When my old friends sent me this video, I knew I simply had to share it with all of you…
