Cool subject, and lots of great examples to pick from. I’ve always been a fan of round tail lights a la early BMW ’02’s, Ford Cortina Mk 1, Opels Manta A and GT, etc, as well as the vertically stacked tail-lights […]

My favourite is the mid-engined project, although it looks nothing like a Mustang…

Tony Wawryk commented on the post, Prime Find of the Week: All American 7 years, 4 months ago
@anders-bilidt and @claus-ebberfeld, I think Anders is right to say that a Reatta (terrible name, by the way) would not be a satisfactory way to experience owning an American classic, but I also understand Claus’s […]

@anders-bilidt hands off that fabulous red C-Type, it’s got my name on it (in Fantasy World)!

This lovely E3 sold yesterday for £15,960/ EUR 18,530 – I think the buyer got an excellent deal.

From an era when Citroën consistently made innovative and interesting cars, the DS is one that has always made me stare and go “wow!”. It still looks like it just landed from a galaxy far far away even now, never […]

Oh, and @gteglman I second Anders’ invitation – if you’re anywhere between the Oxford, Reading and London triangle, let me know!

@anders-bilidt if I had the room for another classic I probably would follow your advice – at least in part – and not buy a second BMW, tempting as this lovely E3 would be (and it would be very tempting indeed!). […]

Tony Wawryk commented on the post, When Does an Old Car Evolve into an Enthusiast Car? 7 years, 5 months ago
This is all interesting stuff, and the criteria used to work out what constitutes enthusiasts’ cars has some merit, though not without some holes as @yrhmblhst points out. I also have to say that an enthusiasts […]

Very interesting story about a car I’ve never seen nor even heard of before! Really like the Pichon & Parat version, agree with @Anders Bilidt that it is by far the best resolved, most integrated design. Wonder […]

I’m guessing that it’s because it only has the 2.5 litre engine that the estimate for this gorgeous E3 is so reasonable – if I had somewhere to put this I’d be bidding at Ascot on March 3rd.

Tony Wawryk commented on the post, Visual Sunday: Bring Back the Eighties! 7 years, 5 months ago
Hmmm…the ’80’s were when my tastes and those of the wider world started to separate…this Z is indeed tasteless, and mainstream pop music and I – never particularly close friends to start with – parted company […]

Many of BMW’s 1960’s and 1970’s cars are now established classics whose prices have escalated steadily in recent years, with some – such as the 2002 Turbo or 3.0CSL – reaching six-figures in sterling for the best […]

Tony Wawryk commented on the post, 297,500 Euro for a Mercedes SEC: Are They Mad?!?! 7 years, 5 months ago
@claus-ebberfeld I thought some of the asking prices at the Excel were mad – £65k for a VW microbus – but these were asking prices; EUR 297.5K paid for an ugly (imo) modified SEC is indeed bonkers. I wonder what […]

Tony Wawryk commented on the post, Classic Glamour at the London Excel 7 years, 5 months ago
@anders-bilidt haha! It IS a DB4, after all, which is a difficult car to make look ugly, although it would look better in most other colours :). Nevertheless, even in brown, this Aston did look fabulous. […]

Let me start with an admission: I much prefer outdoor shows to indoor ones (except when it’s raining, of course), for a variety of reasons. If the weather gods are benign, seeing row upon row of classics g […]

Saw this one at Kop Hill Climb in September- KYL 294D, with a 1398cc engine, produced in 1966, according to the DVLA – bored out, or a different engine to the norm? I can’t see the whole plate on the one pictured […]

I’m with @claus-ebberfeld on this one, does nothing for me, I’m afraid – I belong to the school of thought that thinks the ’80’s were indeed the decade that taste forgot. Wouldn’t say no to a straight ur-GTi, though…
