All ideas for “after Covid” are worth contemplating. I’ll kick over a few ants nest…
Historic events need to adapt: better value (free for U21s), promoting car-sharing to attend, encouraging concours and […]

Claus, good idea to bring up our dream cars or our ideas to rethink our favourite cars. In motoring terms this is a philophical starting point.
We all have our preferences. Mine tend to go towards 4 cylinder […]

It has indeed been a very quiet road and track year and many folks I know with numerous cars must be asking themselves what these cars are really for.
There are classic car positives. Many suppliers of parts […]

Some interesting cars indeed. The Renault Dauphine Gordini is a very interesting car.
It was rare at the time to have all round discs with a front to rear relief valve – I have yet to look into the details as […]

Yes, I’m aware this is a vintage article ;-) but I’m catching up!
Just a few notes on the Lotus Elite: the Earls Court Show Elite was made 60 mouldings as it was a show car. The production cars used just 3 main […]

I seem to comment well behind everyone else ;-)
Great story Claus. The yellow car seemed to have some convincing patina. All of the Ford GTs that race today are recent builds.

Great car. Not the easiest time to sell any car so I wish you well.
The e12 is a very fine looking car – replacement will be a difficult subject!Andrew

I have read the follow up article, milles excuses, I had not seen it.
There are one or two points in common with the Elite. Both had great attention to having smooth underside finishes. This became rather of […]

Brave, but not impossible. Good colour scheme: I like these early 60’s raspberry red interiors – only Fiat seem to understand colours these days.
I presume that the trip to Rochdale has been put back to 2021!

Hmmm!
I agree wire wheels were looking a little dated by 1962/63 by Jaguar (Dunlop), Lotus (Wobbly web) and Cooper standards of measurement.
But for many flat hatted enthusiasts, they were essential […]

Anders has a point about the French touch.
There is also the question of the French blue. In this case, the former national Electric monopoly EDF would be flattered, although in this case it is a wonderful shade.

Tony, there are a few other bones to chew on.
Firstly, interest in classics has widened. Increased disposable income from a certain demographic goes with the popularity of “garden party” events (not the […]

Part 5: The Legend of Lotus 25 R 4
I came across the 25R4 – the car shown in Part 4 after introducing the vast topic through Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3 of The Long Read – which for Lotus fans is the 8th wonder […]

The NSU is a technically interesting car but that sounds quite a full price indeed. I investigated a Citroën GS Birotor last year…but concluded it would have the eco credentials of cruise liner.
My wicked […]

Great story. There are some wonderful roads in Australia and a MGB is a very good choice for them. My GF Marie and I drove from Sydney to Adelaide but our hire car was so unmemorable that I cannot even recall what […]
