Forgive Them for it was the Eighties…

What happens when you combine eighties Japanese design with overly kitsch eighties American styling trends? We present to you the spoilered, striped and not least targa-roofed 2nd generation Toyota Celica created by Griffith Company of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. What’s your verdict?

I’d take the original over this any day. But, that said, this DOES have something. Kitsch is probably the right word and it IS part of the automotive history, coming to everything from Bentleys to Toyotas. I’d love to see this Toyota in the flesh on a sunny day and I’d compliment the owner for keeping it going. But for my own garage – well, I’d probably go for a plain first generation1600 anyway.
