Last Sunday, aged 86, we sadly lost a true legend and multitalent within automotive racing. Dan Gurney’s racing career spanned from 1955 to 1970, in which time he became the first of only three drivers thus far to achieve wins in both Sports Cars, Formula 1, NASCAR and Indy Car. Upon laying up his helmet, he succeeded both as a race car constructor and as a team owner too. This picture shows Dan Gurney on his way to a text-book victory at the 1967 Le Mans in the Team Shelby American Ford GT40 Mk IV which he shared with A.J. Foyt.
