Among the 3000 or so classics on display at the NEC Classic Car Show last month were many delights from across the entire range of our hobby, from the mundane, the sporty, the practical, the rare, the stylish, the […]

Tony Wawryk commented on the post, Prime Find of the Week: A Potential E9 Bargain? 4 years, 7 months ago
Just sold for £24,500 plus 10% – £26,950. By E9 standards I would say that was a relative bargain – without the automatic 2-minute extensions to enable late counter bids, of which there were several, it would h […]

Latest bid is a mere £2,600 with only 18 hours of the auction left as I type; either there’s a serious game of chicken being played or it really will be a bargain E9…( bankruptcy court notwithstanding).

Two years ago we featured a BMW E9 – one of the ViaRETRO team’s favourite cars; certainly one of mine – one of my big classic car regrets is selling the 3.0CSi that I ran in the mid to late 1990’s – in our Prime […]

The GBCJ sounds like a lot of fun, have to get there some time.

Yes, re the wheels, I agree, it definitely looks better when lowered a little – I think that would be preferable to fitting larger wheels.

Sold for a surprisingly low (to me, at least) £14,280 including commissions – well under estimate. The owner must have been particularly keen to sell.

On looking back through the ViaRETRO archives it was a surprise to me that we had never previously featured an Opel GT as one of our Prime Finds. It’s a popular car with the team, and we know of at least one of o […]

Kaiser-Frazer. Not a name familiar to everyone, at least on this side of the Atlantic, though for a short period, the company was a serious motor manufacturer in the US, offering a genuine alternative to Ford, GM […]

A show as big and all-encompassing as the NEC Classic also celebrates the unexceptional as well as the exotic, the ordinary, everyday classics of yesteryear as well as those expensive lovelies from Maranello, […]

Last year the NEC Classic – like all indoor events in the UK – was of course a victim of the covid pandemic, and after a two year absence, the NEC opened its doors again to welcome over 3000 classic cars and m […]

This week’s Prime Find is a genuine oddity, a subtle one-off re-design of a car well known to classic car enthusiasts, though perhaps less so among the general public; the Jensen-Healey.
The history of the m […]

@dave, while it’s true that there is a visual link between the XVR and Opel GT, as far as I can establish, this was just coincidence, as the XVR was developed independently of Opel’s Experimental GT concept. The […]

Sold for just £7,560 including commission, well under even the lowest estimate of £9,000. Someone got either a bargain or perhaps there were issues with the car that are not apparent from the lot entry. Still, a […]

This year saw the 25th anniversary of the Porsche Boxster – yes, you read that right; hard to believe, isn’t it? And it’s the mid-engined Boxster, now fast approaching classic status itself, together with the C […]

Wow, exotica ahoy! Almost an overdose of fabulous classics…somehow I don’t think the NEC event next weekend is going to match this…you lucky man!

@dave – no, you’re not alone, though in this case, the show is at least matched by the go.
