In October last year, I celebrated my 60th birthday. Among many much-appreciated gifts was a voucher to hire a classic car for a weekend from Vintage Classics in Melksham, Wiltshire, bought for me by a group of o […]

As a young person might (perhaps) say, that is one fugly car.

@anders-bilidt the funky purple Daytona wasn’t competing in the Concours, it was just there, as were the two Carrera RS’s. And you’re right, weird as it sounds, it wouldn’t have belonged.
Enjoy Goodwood! -

@yrhmblhst glad it’s not just me, then :). With regard to this debate, I did tie myself in knots trying to stick to “prettiest”, which to me is quite a specific adjective. Broadening things out, your choice of the […]

Another stately home, another classic car show? Well, yes… but actually, much more than that. For Hampton Court Palace is not your average stately home, and the Concours of Elegance is most definitely not your a […]

@anders-bilidt – what a can of worms you’ve opened here! And what a superb choice in the Abarth!
Of course, beauty and prettiness are not only entirely subjective, but also quite different. To make my life a […] -

@claus-ebberfeld – yes, I was pretty sure it would meet with your approval :)

Hi Per, very glad you enjoyed the report – you would have certainly seen much to enjoy that day!

Last weekend saw the 28th Knebworth Classic Car Show, held in the grounds of Knebworth House, near Stevenage, Hertfordshire, about 35 miles north of London.
Knebworth House is a grand English country home […]

Fortunately for me I shall never have to confront this issue, as camping is very far down my list of things to do – give me a decent hotel any time!

Quite incredible prices being paid at the top end of the market – catching up fast with the fine art market, and for me at least, a classic car (of any sort) is as much a work of art as any painting or sculpture, […]

@anders-bilidt what a great way to spend a morning, and what gems revealed themselves to you on your wanderings – you could go out for weeks and not see so many interesting cars!
I’ve never gone out for a stroll […] -

@claus-ebberfeld you’ll have enough competition for that brown gem from @anders-bilidt and @Dave-Leadbetter; @yrhmblhst and I will compete for the yellow one! :)

@anders-bilidt Anders, any classic – even a 1972 911S – would be improved by not being brown :-)
@claus-ebberfeld Claus, I certainly accept that the history of this Dino means it should not be re-sprayed… but […] -

I have to say the car looks better with age – the design has grown on me over the years and it is of course now the only “reasonably” priced route into Ferrari ownership. Unlike many of you on here, including […]

@dave-leadbetter ouch! hope you didn’t damage the car, or yourself, too much?
Despite the rain, this was a good day out, and a super turnout of ’02’s in particular. Good to see you there, Anders, glad you could make it!

Chris Bangle’s “flame surfacing” designs have divided opinion for years, mostly his work for BMW. The majority of those didn’t/still don’t work for me – his 6-series is just weird looking – and the same is true of […]

This looks like a great meeting, thanks for the report – far as I know, there’s no UK street equivalent? Love the idea of the ViaRETRO dinner and tent! As for the big exhibitor stands showing modern cars, they […]

We don’t normally feature the smaller local shows on ViaRETRO, but this week’s Gerrards Cross Classic Car Show raised a few interesting questions, posed largely by the day of the week on which it’s held. […]
