Re the Bonhams auction, I had also heard that it didn’t go well, yet their press release (unsurprisingly) paints a very different picture – https://www.bonhams.com/press_release/30539/ – but “best ever sale”? […]

Seems this Californian is struggling to find an owner – it’s now on offer with Anglia Car Auctions as part of their August 22nd sale, estimated at £7 – 9,000 (sticker price is/was £8,995).

“the arm-in-the-sill kind of enthusiast who simply enjoys a leisurely cruise along scenic roads” – hey, I resemble that remark! :)

There have been numerous specialist British sports car manufacturers over the years – some, like Morgan, survive to this day, while the list of those that lasted just a few years is long. One particular name has s […]

What a fantastic place! Definitely on my list of places to visit – maybe even on my way down to the Bavaria Tour (if I get confirmation that I’m on it)…

Usually when we write about our weekly Prime Find here at ViaRETRO, we try to provide some background history to its development, links to other models, production figures… that sort of thing. One of the fun p […]

In common with most of the classic car world over the past few months, auctioneers in the UK have largely been inactive, though in recent weeks there have been a couple of online auctions that seem to have worked […]

Great photos of the car (but Claus is right about the music for the video…I believe it’s known as “chill out” music; whatever, it’s not good) and I see bidding is starting to move up – good luck with the sale, […]

Anders, you forgot the beer and wine…and bottle of cognac. Obviously to be consumed only at the end of the day and not while behind the wheel…

@Dave, I’m really sorry I didn’t wait for your article before I bought the MB – I feel properly stupid now. And poorer. I used to go to Belgrade on business 3 or 4 times a year until 2017 and still know people […]

Always great to see another enthusiast join the classic car club – welcome Tonni to the joys of classic car ownership, and to the virtual pages of ViaRETRO! That TR6 looks superb, and in a great colour/interior […]

Interestingly, there is a 1963 supercharged R2-engined Avanti now for sale in the UK- for £33,750 – claimed mileage is just 19,000, though the ad (in Classic and Sportscar) doesn’t say whether it’s warranted. I […]

When I was looking to buy my first car back in 1979, I really, really wanted an Opel Manta A. I loved the purposeful forward-leaning front end (echoes of BMW’s “sharknose”), the wide but narrow grille (a contr […]

You do – an electric one at that – works, too (at least it did during my Zoom call with the vendor).

@yrhmblhst – the Opel is hugely appealing, I agree – maybe next time. A classic Italian as a daily, though – I don’t think so. I got my fingers badly burned with a then-brand new Alfa 156 as my daily – trusting a […]

@yrhmblhst – my bad on the turbo/supercharger confusion, thanks for the correction. In terms of styling, I like everything about this car except the front end, it just looks a little awkward – maybe with different […]

Brave attempt, but too peculiar-looking (I’m trying to be kind) and no car with a 700cc engine is ever going to compete with the 356. Still, as @yrhmblhst and @anders have said, it would have been interesting to […]
