This sold for £24,840 including buyer’s premium of 8% +20%VAT – more than twice what it sold for just four years ago, so certainly an indication that Supersport prices are on the up.

Back in the late 1950’s, Triumph had started what became a significant collaboration with Giovanni Michelotti – perhaps in response to BMC’s successful partnership with Pininfarina? – with the first fruit of that […]

Hi Christian, yes – I wrote this about it in my report from that Scramble:-
“Events on the scale of the Bicester Scramble or Brooklands NYD gathering often throw up something that bit different, and this […]

Tony Wawryk commented on the post, Should Morgan Have Produced the SLR as a Road Car? 5 years, 5 months ago
@claus, yes, that’s true, but they were based on road cars, and not particularly exotic ones at that, which makes me think it would have been possible – but we’ll never know now. At least we have these four to enjoy!

I think the idea of a classic share is a good one, in principle – potentially brings cars within reach that might otherwise be unaffordable for the individuals concerned. So long as you all live reasonably close […]

Morning, Niels – I did know about the Plus 4 coupe, but chose not to mention it – perhaps I should have. I’ve never actually seen one, only in photos – can’t decide whether I like it or not, the proportions don’t […]

Cards on the table – I don’t really “get” Morgans. I’ve never understood the appeal and have always maintained that if I want a car that looks old, I’ll just buy an old car. I realise not everyone thinks this […]

Hello Peter,
First, thank you for a) taking the time to read the piece and b) to comment on it. It is, however, disappointing that you’ve chosen to focus on only the less complimentary aspects of the article r […] -

As our regular readers will know, here at ViaRETRO we firmly believe that “any classic is better than no classic”. A classic doesn’t have to wear a badge depicting a prancing horse or charging bull, nor does it ne […]

There’s a 1957 Kellison – a name I had previously never heard of – that has shown up at a couple of recent Bicester Scrambles (back when they were allowed – seems so long ago!). Very interesting car, this one had […]

Dave, yes, I had a feeling you’d like this one! It’ll be very interesting to see what it fetches at the auction, bearing in mind recent prices. I don’t know if you’ve watched the Salvage Hunters episode, but the […]

Now in its 7th iteration, the Ford Fiesta has been part of Ford’s model range – and a familiar sight on our roads – since 1976, with over 16 million sold worldwide, making it Ford’s best-selling car after the E […]

Having written about the 60th anniversary of one the most well-known and beloved cars – not too strong a word, I think, although there are always naysayers – in motoring history, this week we’re covering anot […]

There was much sadness when SAAB was declared bankrupt – we have a number of fans of the marque here at ViaRETRO, and while I’m not particularly one of them, I do have a soft spot for the 92/3/5/6 series, as wel […]

Each year that passes contains some memorable classic car anniversaries, and 2021 is no different, so over the next few weeks and months here at ViaRETRO we will endeavour to celebrate many, if perhaps not all, of […]

Every now and then, we find a classic for sale that we think might pique the curiosity of our readers, spend a few hours researching the wider history of the car, source photographs from our own libraries as well […]

Tony Wawryk commented on the post, Alfa GTV and Ferrari 308 same price? When the market is wrong! 5 years, 6 months ago
Interesting – that Alfa seems extraordinarily expensive, but then, Historics sold a TR6 for £57k a few months back – a quite superb TR6, true, but still a TR6…
Interesting also that the entire UK auction […] -

I was reminded the other day that we had let Pininfarina’s 90th anniversary pass without marking it, a heinous oversight and while it’s not possible in the space of a ViaRETRO article to dig deeply into the s […]
