What a nice little car and what a useless ad. I share your amazement here, Anders.
Maybe the seller just got tired of everything after the alleged 10,000 £ splashout on restoration and then realizing that the […]

I think the main inconvenience suffered by my cars is on the Scimitar: For the whole of last season (and some of 2016…) the wipers could be turned on but not turned off again. Then at the end of the year the […]

Tony, no hard feelings: If you knew how used to SD1-prejudices an SD1-owner rapidly becomes!
And certainly no need to apologize as the reputation was well earned :-)

Claus Ebberfeld commented on the post, Grand Avenue Defines the London Classic Car Show 8 years, 7 months ago
As an SD1-owner myself I’d say it probably has a worse reputation than is fair – considering the fact that owner’s of the cars in the years since new have probably sorted out many of the built-in problems. I love […]

Claus Ebberfeld commented on the post, Have you too forgotten the VW Type 53i? 8 years, 7 months ago
The VR6-engine does a lot for me, @anders-bilidt : Great concept, sound – and of course power and torque. And I actually like the idea of one as a daily youngtimer. But then again – why?

Claus Ebberfeld wrote a new post 8 years, 7 months ago
Frankly, I had. The type number, not the model as such. This is probably due to the fact that the 53i is far better known as the Corrado, which will be 30 years this year.
The Corrado is actually a car I can […]

Claus Ebberfeld commented on the post, Teasers from the 2018 London Classic Car Show 8 years, 7 months ago
These teasers make me want to see more! Not a single photo of a car in full figure – just how can you be so cruel, Anders?!?!
Ah, it’s on purpose, you say? OK, got me there. I’ll wait, then.

Claus Ebberfeld commented on the post, Prime Find of the Week: Your chance to Own a One-Off Prototype 8 years, 7 months ago
Bingo! This is surely the best and never to be repeated Prime Find ever.
How could a prototype possibly be any better suited for actually being of use out in the real world? Toyota drivetrain, glassfibre […]

Claus Ebberfeld commented on the post, The forgotten Datsun Z: 260 8 years, 7 months ago
It’s not just you, Dave: Although there are worse stretch-jobs from 2-seater to 2+2 (I’d like to nominate the Jaguar E-type here) I agree that some of the harmony of the original proportions are lost in Z 2+2. […]

Any classic is better than no classic remains our motto here at ViaRETRO – a mindset which we truly believe in and adhere to. But a Datsun Z is even better than much else – and here’s a tip which can save Z […]

Claus Ebberfeld commented on the post, The 1968 Generation: Groovy, Man! 8 years, 7 months ago
Absolutely agree on the Opel GT, Tony. Incidentally a GT was the first classic car I ever drove for real – many, many years ago I looked at one for sale and loved it. Yes, it was the 1,9 and surprisingly quick for […]

The Jaguar XJ6 has been proclaimed by many to be one of 2018’s most important jubilees – but 1968 was all-round a spectacular year, which makes me want them all!
Various magazines have already begun writing a […]

Claus Ebberfeld commented on the post, Prime Find of the Week: Razor-Sharp Nippon Coupé on a Budget 8 years, 7 months ago
What a lovely shape and indeed this seems as an honest car. But when I venture into Seventies J-tin I would like the full Monty: Most importantly I feel they live by a garish paint colour, preferably with added […]

And now I’ll go out in the garage and prepare the 5 GT Turbo for sale in order for it to make way for a real classic…

Claus Ebberfeld commented on the post, Rétromobile 2018 in 80 photos and a Few Words 8 years, 7 months ago
Incidentally the Puma was priced at around 25,000 Euro – almost exactly the same price as that other great variation over the theme that I encountered in Bremen, the Volkswagen SP2. Would be a difficult choice, I think.

Claus Ebberfeld commented on the post, Age Is Just a Number 8 years, 7 months ago
Interesting, Tony, but I don’t quite see it that way: In fact I don’t even think my own 5 GT Turbo is (much) more classic than a GTL-version of the same model. Likewise with the Escort Mk1 1,3 – an absolute […]

That is such an interesting topic, Dave.
First of all, you’ve nailed what makes actually DRIVING “real” classic cars interesting – they feel different. Call that “old”, “alive”, “demanding” or what ever you […]

Wait a minute – three plus one, ahem – seven? No, really, let me recalculate.
Do as I say, not as I do :-)

Claus Ebberfeld commented on the post, Achieving my Dream Garage 8 years, 8 months ago
There are very good reasons for settling on three or four classics – within ANY budget, really: One car can’t fulfill all wishes while too many cars CAN take all your time. I’d say three is probably ideal. […]
